Many schools and families are facing the challenges of educating students with autism and other developmental disabilities. My goal is to support school personnel, students and families in the pursuit of an appropriate education for students with autism and other developmental disabilities. This can be accomplished through school/district wide training and individual training and support to administrators, teachers, students and families. Consultation services range from staff development and teacher training to individual classroom support for students and teachers. Parent training and in-home training are services available.
My expertise in educating students with autism and other developmental disabilities comes from over 25 years of experience as a teacher, central administrator, project director, workshop presenter and in-home and parent trainer. As a classroom teacher, I developed model programs for students within two different school districts. As a national project director for The Arc, I conducted research in self-determination for people with cognitive disabilities and assisted in the development of training guides related to transition planning for students. As a central administrator, I implemented an inclusion and technology grant and later supported programs for students with significant support needs. I have conducted numerous staff development seminars throughout the state of Texas related to educating students with autism and other developmental disabilities.
